Welcome to the 1st newsletter of 2009.

A quick update on the website and a couple of promotional ideas that you may be able to use.

• The website redesign is well under way and the responses have been very encouraging.
  
  
• I have spent some time adding comments to blogs and forums related to British made products and other areas of interest, letting everybody know that British Made means quality, sustainability and a reduced carbon footprint.
  Where I can, I'm adding a signature that includes the web address.
  
  The benefits here are twofold:
  1. The web address generates clicks and interest from other forum members.
  2. The search engines treat this as an incoming link to your site.
  
  You could promote your site in a similar way, but bear in mind not all blogs and forums will allow you to add your website link.
  
  
• Finally, I have now put the directory on Facebook - yes I know this must seem strange, but when I looked at the demographics I was staggered.
  
  
  1. More than 200 million active users.
  2. More than 100 million users log on to Facebook at least once each day.
  3. An average of 250,000 new users join every day.
  4. About 34% of users work as professionals, sales, executives, educators or are in technical careers.
  5. The fastest growing demographic on Facebook consists of users 25 and older.
